Pita, pita, pumpkin eater.

Well, there’s no pumpkins today, but there are plenty of pitas.

Pitas. Pocket breads. Whatever you want to call them, that’s OK by me.

Tonight, I thought we’d have a Greek/Turkish menu for dinner. The main item tonight will be the pitas. Oh, I’m making some little meatballs that will be fried then cooked in a braising liquid, and some chickpea hummus, and some other vegetables to go inside, but the only food I can be sure of that everyone will eat will be the pitas.

The dough is easy enough to make and is just a basic bread dough. The cooking is where this bread changes from any other bread into pitas. I make little balls of dough, then roll them out into small circles before baking them in a hot oven. They all puffed up nicely and will be good to eat with anything. Now, I have to get started on the meatballs!
