Swinging in the Wind

I finally got our sign hanging outside our house again.

So, at the end of 2021, we had our house painted. It had been about 17 years from when we built our house, and it certain places, the paint needed to be another coat. For the most part, we didn't have to do very much this time.

One of the things I did was to remove various hooks and objects that I'd attached to the house siding over the years before the painters came. We have a sign for our school in our driveway, and another smaller sign near our front door.

When we first built our house and put up our signs, I did so quickly and with the intention of changing the setup as was needed. However, with time, I found that things worked okay, and so I never did any changes to the setup. This time that everything was taken down, I found that objects had rusted and would need replacing.

Searching at the local hardware store, it seemed that I could not use the same setup as before. Some reflection, and time led me to go visit the local ¥100 store for some ideas. Luckily, I found things that could be used, and with a couple more items, I was ready to go.

I had to use a hacksaw to get the proper length of chain, but other than that, things went pretty smoothly. The sign seems to be hanging fine, and hopefully will be okay for most occasions, other than typhoons. I'm happy with the result.

The sign, my friends, is swinging in the wind, the sign is swinging in the wind.
