Gyoza

My eldest daughter wanted to make dinner tonight.

Dinner tonight was gyoza. In North America, sometimes people call these pot-stickers.

Recently my eldest daughter has been reading, or should I say devouring a book from the school library on gyoza. My daughter loves reading and she reads all kinds of books. Lately, it’s the world of gyoza.

The benefit of this latest book, apart from the knowledge she gained and in turn, taught to us was the end result of our dinner tonight.

My daughter has done all kinds of cooking as she’s grown up though this was her first time to make gyoza.

The food pictured above was completely home/hand made. My daughter made the dough for the skins, then cut and rolled out the skins. She mixed up the fillings and then filled the skins, and finally she cooked the gyoza.

We often have a mix of boiled and fried gyoza, but tonight we only had the fried version.

And how were they? Great! The filling and the skins were really, really good.

I’m a lucky Dad.
