Here I am, hanging around doing nothing. Well, not quite. I’m actually precariously balanced on our longest ladder painting the railing on the second floor of our house. It’s a little tricky because the ladder, on the first floor has a limited area in which it can be put due to the wood stove (that’s the chimney pipe on my left side).

We’ve been doing some painting around our house lately, so if you smell the fumes or notice I have paint in my hair, on my ear or all over my hands, that’s the reason. We haven’t painted the railing since it was built. At that time I did most of the work myself as our 2 daughters were kept out of harm’s way. Eight years later and they now are taping and painting like pros.

Sorry, no before and after pictures but it really does make a difference. I’m glad to be off of the ladder as it’s a bit shaky up there. I use a folding ladder that converts from the regular upside down ‘V’ to a fully extended straight ladder that allows me to touch the ceiling on the second floor. Next up, at some point will be to paint the walls. Not today, though. Work is done for today and I’m happy to have both feet on the ground.
