In Search of Smoke

I visited a local company yesterday to buy some liquid smoke.

We set out yesterday into the rain, with a typhoon meandering it's way around Japan to the north of us. Would the typhoon move on or stay? Why were we going out when it was raining? The answer was simple: liquid smoke.I've visited Mr. Hayashi's place in the past and have bought his products many times over the years. I love the quality of his products and I enjoy talking with him. Some years ago I wrote another blog entry about his wondrous liquid smoke. I've also sent this to family in Canada and they rave about it being so much better than any similar product they have found in Canada.I'm not embarrassed to say that we got lost on our way, but for that I put part of the blame on my phone's GPS. We were able to get a stone's throw from Mr. Hayashi's place when the final directions became confusing. No matter, we finally found the place. If your map reading skills are better than mine, you can always just look at Mr. Hayashi's homepage where you will find loads of details and pictures about his products. We were warmly greeted by Mr. Hayashi and his wife, were given some recently harvested produce, given a tour of their property including an explanation of the production and of the final products. We enjoyed hearing information about the products and decided in the end to not only buy liquid smoke, but also some charcoal for using to BBQ with and some charcoal to use in the house and car to help with the air quality. The only unfortunate part of our visit was the rain. But the joy we got from getting Mr. Hayashi's products and the warmth of his character made it a wonderful, memorable visit. I look forward to visiting again. Hopefully the next time, I won't get lost!
