I'm Going to a Garden Party

Like Ricky Nelson, I went to a garden party last night. Unlike Ricky though, this party was at my house and was very small.

It’s summer, it’s the weekend so we of course had a BBQ.


We had friends over for the evening and with all the food that was available it was quite the feast.


We had a small beef roast that was BBQ’ed and lightly smoked with cherry wood (served with 3 sauces). We had BBQ’ed unagi (eel), grilled, coated with a teriyaki sauce, then re-grilled. Courtesy of a student, the unagi was delicious: smokey, sweet, salty, tender and yummy.


We grilled some salmon and smoked it with cherry wood. Shrimp were cooked with wine and garlic. Edamame were boiled and eaten by hand. A baguette was grilled with olive oil and garlic. Salad was tossed.


Drinks were drunk, food was eaten, stories were told and laughter was shared.


A beautiful night, we were happy to share it with friends.
