If at first you don't succeed,...

There’s another typhoon heading this way, and before it visits us I decided to go out and do a little foraging.

This year hasn’t been the greatest I’ve known for getting olives. On our trees at our house, I was able to harvest just one olive this year.At various places where there are olives growing I noticed much less olives than in prior years.Recently I noticed that what olives that could be found were either dropping from the trees before I could pick them, or they were already getting quite dark and therefore very ripe. Thus I found myself out foraging today for olives. The first stop resulted in some olives but they were smaller than normal and many were too high for me to reach them.My second stop was more successful and I was able to find not only more olives, but bigger ones, too!Luckily, the police didn’t question me this year as they did last year. But who knows, the night is young.I’ve been nursing my last jar of olives from last year, which turned out really good. Now that I have reinforcements, I can start eating them with abandon. It’s time to stop writing so that I can get to work with the pickling.Happy foraging!
