Today was Septembers’s cooking lesson at our school.

It’s been a while since we had our last cooking lesson at our school, back in the spring of this year.

Today the students and I got back together for another round of cooking.

The recipes for today were Spicy Chickpeas with Ground Meat and a Pear Yogurt Cake. Additional foods were rice and a simple carrot salad.

I love chickpeas as well as using spices. This recipe comes together quickly and is great with a side dish of rice. The carrot salad was a bit sour and a bit spicy due to the addition of some grated ginger.

We ended the meal with a cake using Japanese pears called Nashi (梨). Of course, these pears taste best when eaten fresh, but there may be times when people have a lot of these pears at their home and would like to try them in another form.

The cake turns out moist and smells nice. With coffee or tea, it was a nice ending to the meal. Thanks, as always to my students for doing a great job.
