Wood Boy, how have I lived without you?

Today I tested my new wood splitter. Amazing!

Muffin looks worried, but it’s OK. Everything will be OK.When I was back in Canada for the holidays, one of my ‘must get’ items was a wood splitter. I found it, but there was a problem: how to get it back to Japan? You see, the wood splitter is a heavy item and as luggage would require a lot of extra payment. As cargo, it would require a lot of payment. Through the Canadian post office or using a courier service would require... I think you know where I’m headed with this... a lot of money. Therefore I gave up and decided I’d have to buy a wood splitter here in Japan. The price for the equivalent wood splitter I found in Canada is over $200 Canadian more expensive. C’est la vie! It’s still cheaper than shipping one from Canada.I recently bought this wood splitter and yesterday it was delivered. Today I tried it out.At first, I thought I’d split a few pieces of wood that I have on hand. Many, many hours later I had split all the wood that was split-able. I couldn’t help myself - it was fun! A lot of the wood that I split today is a wood that has a mesh-like growth pattern which makes chopping the wood very difficult.Today with my new toy, it was so easy to split the wood. How have I lived without such a splitter for so many years?I split and stacked wood today over several hours that would have normally taken me many, many days.Wood Boy, you did good today!
