Do you know Baumkuchen / バウムクーヘン ?It is a German cake that is very popular in Japan. It resembles the rings of a tree and that’s where it gets its name from.My oldest daughter made some wonderful pudding yesterday with a bittersweet caramel on the bottom, that was a perfect ending to a wonderful dinner of various vegetables and barbecued foods.Today, she decided to make Baumkuchen in the afternoon. She gathered the ingredients, went shopping for those that we didn’t have, and got to work.She produced two small cakes which when cut into pieces provided more than enough for the four of us.The cake is slightly sweet with hints of vanilla and caramel.Should you need the recipe, send me a request and my daughter will be happy to pass on the information.
