2014's Halloween Costume

This year my costume was easy to make and it’s comfortable to wear.

Happy Halloween, everyone! One of the great things about running my English school is that I have the chance to dress up for Halloween each year. After 20 years, it can be difficult to come up with new costume ideas. Each year I use a different costume, one that I make from odds and ends and cheap props that I have at home or sometimes buy.A lot of costume ideas that I have are either shot down by myself or my wife because the idea is such that no-one in our city would probably understand. For example, if there is a political character that is in the news or an actor that is currently popular I find that most people would not understand the meaning of the costume. Famous characters like Harry Potter or Spiderman are understood but I’ve never been interested in them because they are overly mimicked. My costume from last year, a box of tissues was easy enough to make and was a good costume. But I couldn’t move very freely and I couldn’t even sit down! This year’s costume, a painter (of houses, for example) was easy to make. I used some old clothes that I have for working outdoors and touched them up with a bit of leftover paint. The only piece that I bought was the hat which I bought for 100 yen (about $1 CDN).With this costume I don’t have to shave today (yay!), I don’t have to work about wrinkles or stains and I am comfortable.Too bad Halloween only comes once a year!
