Holy Smoke!

Sometimes you just need a little smoke.

I don’t smoke tobacco, but I do like wood smoke. And this liquid smoke, もくさくえき/mokusaku eki in Japanese, which is locally produced is a favourite of mine.

We use this in many different ways. In the kitchen, it’s used for getting rid of smells from food waste waiting to be put into our compost pile outside. I also like to use it at times when I’m cooking, as an ingredient in the recipe.

In the bath, this helps to eliminate odours in the summer when everyone smells a bit ripe. It also is good for the skin when added to the bath water.

And finally, stinky shoes. A squirt of this inside a stinky or soon to be stinky shoe makes your feet smell like a sausage or smokey campfire. Much better than how they can usually smell!

The owner is very friendly and a good salesperson. I’ve been using this product for a few years now, and every year I receive a New Year’s postcard from the owner. The postcard is a coupon to let the buyer get 3 bottles for the price of 2. As you can see, I took advantage of the offer.

The next time you see me, if I smell like sausages, you’ll know why!
