Say 'ahh'!

Recently, I had a craving for cinnamon buns. Today I satisfied that craving.

Sticky buns, cinnamon buns, ooey gooey yummy buns. Call them anything you like.

I still have fond memories of the cinnamon buns from my school cafeteria. I don’t know where they bought them from (they didn’t make them at the school). They were big, but not too big, and sweet and gooey, but not too gooey. Heck, they were just plain yummy. I didn’t have one every day, or even every week, but I ate quite a lot of them over my time in high school.

The buns made today have lots of raisins (I like raisins), soaked in brandy, and chopped cashews. I usually don’t put nuts in cinnamon buns, but we’ve had some nuts around for a while so I thought, “Hey, why not put them in?”

The buns were finished baking just before dinner time and after dinner I just had to have a small taste. You know, just to be sure they came out OK (wink, wink, nod, nod). One bite, quickly led to another. And another. I sort of inhaled that first half of my cinnamon bun. My ‘taster’. I had to go back and finish the other half. Had to! It’s bad manners (maybe?) to leave a half of a bun. Especially buns this good. If you don’t like cinnamon, or sugar, or raisins, or nuts, or sugar, or cinnamon, or…. Well if you don’t like these things, these buns aren’t for you. And if you do like these things, well, again (sorry) these buns aren’t for you. They’re mine! All mine! (cue the evil laughter) No, I can share. But you’d have to come quickly. After breakfast tomorrow, it’s hard to guess how many, if any, will be left over!

Sweet dreams!
