Here's to Longevity!

It's December 31st, and we are eating soba noodles.

Toshikoshi soba (年越し蕎麦) are noodles that are traditionally eaten at the end of the year. One reason they are eaten is that the length of the noodles represents a long life.

Warm, healthy and tasty, they make a good meal anytime, not just for New Year's eve.

My family likes to have soba noodles, and to have some tempura to enjoy with the noodles and soup, like vegetables and shrimp.

Some families I've talked to eat ramen, and some udon. All of these noodles are long as well, so I guess they also can represent a long life.

As 2019 comes to a close, I wish everyone a Happy New Year, and longevity fo all!
