Hungarian Paprika

One of my students recently gave me Hungarian Paprika, a souvenir from recent travels in Europe.

Paprika. Hungarian sweet paprika, not to be confused with hot paprika. Or パプリカ, which is Japanese for paprika but in Japan refers to the vegetable known in Canada as a red bell pepper.Back to the paprika, it is a beautiful red colour, perfect for this time of year (December) as it fits in colour-wise with many other Christmas-y things. One of my students gave me some paprika as a souvenir from travels in Europe and my first thought was of Goulash, a Hungarian dish featuring the use of paprika. After searching for some recipes I decided on making Chicken Paprikash. The recipe I followed was simple and the results were delicious.Served with rice and some vegetables, this made for a very satisfying meal, with enough leftovers for tomorrow for two of us.I really appreciate the gift of the paprika. It contributed to a nice dinner for this weekend.
