It’s the end of August and Fall is just around the corner. The nights are cooler, summer goods have disappeared from stores, and different foods are coming out at markets. One of the fall foods, apples have come down in price recently and so I decided to use some for a cake.I’ve made this cake before and everyone’s always enjoyed it. The recipe comes from Martha Stewart’s website. I’m not sure how I first found the recipe but it’s been a keeper since the first time we tasted the result. When you make the cake batter and mix it with the apples, it’s easy to believe that you’ve made a mistake somewhere following the recipe. There seems to be more apples that batter and it seems quite lumpy going into the cake pan. This is because the apples are in thick slices.Once baked up, the apples are soft and sweet yet still hold their shape. Each slice, no matter how thin yields some pieces of apple. How does it taste? If you like apples and cinnamon, then you know how good this cake tastes.I’m guessing that this cake will last about 48 hours. Maybe less. If you get here real quick, there still may be a slice for you.So, if apples are in season where you are, why don’t you try your hand at this cake. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
