It’s Friday night, and that usually means it’s time for fencing.

Our daughters started fencing a few years ago and thankfully they’ve kept at it. I don’t think they think too deeply about it, but I think it’s so cool. I constantly am reminded of Robin Hood, Peter Pan, pirates of all sorts, the Three Musketeers, and Gomez from the Addams Family when I see them fencing.

I’ve had the opportunity to try fencing with our daughters’ class and I loved it. It’s tiring to continue battling an opponent and it’s both exciting and scary to be attacking with your sword and being attacked by a sword. The fact that my daughters do this matter-of-factly makes me look at them with awe.

Should you ever get the chance I urge you to give it a try. The coaches are friendly and they take good care of the students. Our daughters fence here in Naruto at the Naruto Sports Park, Friday evenings. Hope to see you.
